Mercedes-Benz G-Class 2019 maintains its iconic appearance when receiving a new, longer frame. Despite being in the luxury vehicle segment, the G-Class comes with a part-time 4WD system, three differential locking, and a fairly high ground clearance, increasing the capability of SUVs to drive in all terrain. All of that confirms how the G-Class maintains its legacy off-road heritage.

The G-Class, also known as Geländewagen or G-Wagen, which means cross-country vehicles, has been around for 40 years. Served to help German military forces traverse terrible terrain around the world, this four-wheel drive SUV was produced by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Austria and sold by Mercedes-Benz. In certain markets, the G-Class is sold as Puch, or Puch G.

G-Wagen is characterized by box style and body-on-frame construction. Using three fully locked differentials, the G-Class is one of the few vehicles that has this feature. Even though it was introduced as a replacement, the Mercedes-Benz GL-Class unibody SUV in 2006, the G-Class is still produced and is one of the Mercedes-Benz with Daimler’s longest production history. Only Unimog surpassed this achievement.Changes in the appearance of the exterior and electronification that gives a more luxurious appearance for the G-Class did not eliminate the impression of off-road that became the legacy of this car.

Mercedes maintains the status of G-Wagen thanks to the evolutionary design changes, rather than giving a revolutionary change to this SUV. The exterior of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class 2019 is comprehensively reengineered. Only the doorknob, spare tire cover, sun visor, and bracket under the hood still look very similar to what was seen in the predecessor generation.
